When Parents Aren't Given a "Plan A"
What happens when parents aren't given a "Plan A"? I suppose we are about to find out because today the FDA approved the morning after pill, or Plan B, to be sold over the counter to girls as young as 15 with ZERO parental consent. Yes, I know what you are thinking. I can't purchase Mucinex without a doctors prescription these days and yet young girls will be allowed to ingest large amounts of hormones into their body without their parents ever knowing???? You probably think I am kidding, but honestly, I couldn't make this stuff up. This is our awesome federal government taking control of our children, again.
Basically what this means is that girls can now have unprotected sex, go to CVS, Walgreens, or any drug store and purchase this pill and not ever have to worry about getting pregnant. Seems great doesn't it?? Only there are sooo many problems with this it seems surreal that the government agency that is supposed to protect our health is allowing this to happen.
First, they put an age limit of 15 on the over the counter purchase. Okay - great. That is certainly going to protect 12, 13, and 14 year old children from purchasing. We all know how careful the high school age cashiers are. Not to mention, how many 15 year olds even have id's? I know dozens of kids this age that have nothing more than a school id because they haven't yet gotten their drivers permit. How will the staff at these establishments be able to discern who is 15 and who isn't?
Next, have I mentioned that "Plan B" does absolutely nothing to protect against sexually transmitted diseases? Not only will you have girls having sex outside of a loving, marriage relationship, they will now be doing it completely unprotected from harmful diseases that can affect them for the rest of their lives. The young ages of the girls that will be using this drug are unable to process how promiscuous sexual relationships will affect them long into adulthood - especially if they contract an STD that could leave them infertile.
Just another aspect that makes this so dangerous is that is completely protects men that are involved in the human sex trade and incestuous behaviors. These vile characters must be jumping for joy at how easy it will be to cover up their crimes. I shutter at the thought of men purchasing "Plan B" and forcing children to take it to prevent any "evidence" that may reveal their crimes.
The last, and scariest, aspect that I will discuss (although there are so many more) is that Plan B can act like an early abortion drug. We do not know how often "Plan B" will prevent an already fertilized egg (young human) from implanting into the uterus essentially stopping any chance this tiny human has to survive. How sad to take this drug month after month year after year to one day discover that you may have been stopping the growth of your unborn children when you thought you were only preventing pregnancy. I cannot imagine coming to that realization in adulthood. How deceived these girls will be.
The primary role of the parent is to protect and to train our children to be productive members of society. How can we do that when the government has decided that children can make their own decisions regarding the consumption of large amounts of hormones? The school nurse cannot administer a Tylenol to our children without our consent, but these children can enter a store and purchase medication that could harm them for the rest of their lives. I simply cannot make sense of the rational. Any clarity you have to offer would be great.
I seem to be rambling....
